NAR NXT 2026 Networking: How Agents Turn Three Days in New Orleans Into Referrals

Three days, thousands of agents, and a tote bag full of paper cards you will never sort. At NAR NXT you are mostly not meeting buyers. You are meeting agents in other markets who can send you clients. This is how to make one of them remember your market, and refer to you in six months.

NAR NXT 2026 at a glance

  • Dates: November 6–8, 2026
  • Place: Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans
  • Expo hours: Fri 6 and Sat 7, 10am–5pm; Sun 8, 10am–2pm
  • Open to non-members; members get reduced registration (per the NAR NXT FAQ)
  • Announced on the NAR NXT site: a fireside chat with Ryan Serhant on the 6th

Why referrals matter more this fall

Here is what was reported at the start of October. Freddie Mac's average 30-year rate was 7.28% on October 1, up from 7.03% a week earlier. Realtor.com reported that 20.8% of listings took a price cut in September, the highest share in nearly four years. Active listings were up 5.4% from a year earlier, while pending sales fell 4.1%.

None of that is a forecast, and local markets differ. The practical read is simple: when fewer transactions are closing, every warm introduction is worth more. An agent in another state who trusts you with a relocating client is the cheapest lead you will ever get. That is the job of three days in New Orleans.

The referral-partner card is not your open house card

Our realtor playbook covers yard signs, flyers, and open houses, where the reader is a buyer or seller in your town. At NAR NXT the reader is another agent who wants to know three things fast: where do you work, what do you do best, and how do I reach you.

FieldWhat to write
TitleYour market and specialty, not just “REALTOR®”. Example: Relocation specialist, Austin and Round Rock
CompanyYour brokerage, per your broker's branding and disclosure rules
BioOne sentence a referring agent can repeat to their client
WebsiteYour team page or a referral-intake form. KadiConnect has one website field, so pick the page you want a referring agent to land on
InstagramProof of how you show up in your market
Phone / emailThe line you will answer in a week, not the one that goes to a team inbox

Turn on lead capture before you fly

This is the feature that fits this crowd. In the card editor, switch on Lead Capture, give the form a title like “Refer a client to me,” and choose the fields: name is required, and email, phone, company, job title, and message are optional. An agent who meets you at the expo can leave their details and a line like “I have a client moving to your market” right from your card, instead of typing your number into their phone and forgetting why.

You get an email for each submission and an entry in Dashboard → Leads. Lead capture is on every plan, but there is one limit to know: on the free plan you can read submissions only up to the 50-view limit, and Pro ($4/month) keeps the Leads tab open. A convention week can blow past 50 views, so decide before you fly.

Before you land in New Orleans

  • One tracked link for the conference. Create a shareable link named NAR NXT 2026 and use it for the QR you show. When the dashboard shows views next week, you know they came from the floor. The mechanics are in why analytics make digital cards better.
  • Screenshot the QR into a camera-roll album. In a crowded hall, opening Photos beats hunting through apps. Test the scan from arm's length on iPhone and Android; the QR guide covers contrast and sizing for print.
  • A 15-second line. “I'm [name], I work [market]. I do [specialty]. Scan this if you ever want to refer someone to my market.” Say it, show the QR, stop.
  • Check your broker's rules. License display, advertising disclosure, referral-fee handling, and fair housing wording are your responsibility. Run your card and follow-up copy past your broker.

On the expo floor

  • Show the QR at the end of the conversation, not as an opener. Two minutes of real talk about their market, then the code. If networking is not your strength, the introvert system works as written.
  • Scan the paper cards you are handed with the free business card scanner so you have a real contact, not a blurry photo.
  • Group saved contacts by their market (for example “NAR NXT, Phoenix”). In six months you will search by city, not by the name of a conference.
  • Write one line right after each conversation: name, market, one thing they said. Do it in the aisle, not on the flight home.

The 48-hour follow-up

Send it within two days, while they still remember your face. Keep it short, mention something specific, and offer one next step. Put the same link in your email signature so it follows every later message.

Agent conference calendar: the same system works

If you are not going to New Orleans, the same card, tracked link, and follow-up apply to the other agent events coming up.

Back home, the same QR goes on listing flyers and yard sign riders. The realtor playbook walks through that side. If you also go to tech events, see our Web Summit networking guide.

What you get with KadiConnect

KadiConnect gives you a card that opens in the browser, a branded QR, shareable tracked links, views, contact saving, and an optional lead capture form. It works alongside whatever your brokerage and the conference require; the card is the layer another agent can open without installing anything. The free plan includes up to 50 views; Pro is $4/month for unlimited views.

  1. Build a referral-partner card. Add your photo, name, brokerage, the markets you serve, one specialty, phone, email, and Instagram. Put a team page or referral-form link in the website field. Add your license and ad disclosure per your broker.
  2. Turn on Lead Capture. In the card editor, switch on Lead Capture, set a title such as “Refer a client to me,” and choose the fields you want. Submissions are emailed to you and appear in Dashboard → Leads.
  3. Create a tracked link for the conference. Make one shareable link named NAR NXT 2026. Use it for the QR you show and the link you send, so views map to the conference in your dashboard.
  4. Test the QR and screenshot it. Scan the QR from arm’s length on iPhone and Android. Save a screenshot to a camera-roll album so you can pull it up in a loud hall without opening an app.
  5. Follow up within 48 hours. Message each agent with their market, what you discussed, and your card link. Offer one concrete next step, such as a call about a client you expect to move.

FAQ

Do I need to be an NAR member to attend NAR NXT?

No. According to the NAR NXT FAQ, you do not have to be a member of NAR to attend, though members receive reduced registration rates. Check the official NAR NXT site for current registration details.

What should an agent put on a digital business card for referral partners?

The markets you serve, one clear specialty (relocation, luxury, first-time buyers, investors), your brokerage, phone, email, Instagram, and a team page or referral-form link in the website field. Add your license and advertising disclosure the way your broker requires. The goal is that an agent in another state can tell in five seconds whether to send you a client.

Can another agent leave their details on my card?

Yes. Turn on Lead Capture in the KadiConnect card editor to add a contact form to your public card. You choose the fields (name is required; email, phone, company, job title, and message are optional) and get an email for each submission, plus an entry in Dashboard → Leads. A message like “I have a client moving to your market” lands in your inbox instead of on a napkin.

Will a convention week exceed the free plan’s 50 views?

It can. The free plan includes up to 50 card views. Lead capture is available on every plan, but on free you can read submissions in Dashboard → Leads only up to that view limit. Pro is $4/month for unlimited views and keeps the Leads tab open. If you expect to scan with hundreds of agents, upgrade before you fly.

Do I need NFC or Apple Wallet to do this at NAR NXT?

No. A QR code on your phone screen or a printed card works with any camera phone, and the card opens in the browser with no app.

Is this legal or compliance advice?

No. Licensing display, advertising disclosures, referral-fee rules, and fair housing wording vary by state, board, and broker. Confirm what your card and follow-up messages must include with your broker or compliance officer.
